Bob Irwin turns focus on  Cassowary

bob irwin, rainforest rescue, cassowaries, mission beach, queensland, australia

Bob Irwin, father of Steve Irwin has stepped into the limelight to continue his son's campaign for conservation issues. The high profile wildlife carer has helped raise funds to secure habitat for the southern hairy nosed wombat and added his weight to the protest against the Traveston Dam proposal.

He has now turned his attention to the plight of the cassowary. Bob arrived at Mission Beach with CEO of Rainforest Rescue Kelvin Davies to take a first hand look at the threats posed to the survival of the endangered species.

Sixty members of the Mission Beach community gathered at the C4 conservation centre to meet Bob and Kelvin to enjoy a free BBQ with the legendary wildlife warrior. Bob is urging all Australians to donate to save rainforest cassowary habitat.

Rainforest Rescue, a non for profit, non government organisation, has added Mission Beach to the list of places they are raising funds for the voluntary buy back of rainforested blocks.

The C4 Land gift Fund already has $80,000 toward an initial target of $350,000.
